Yr. 2023We designed a new brand identity for Wayfarer, a coffee and tong sui store. Someone once asked the founder if the line in the logo was a heartbeat, but he responded saying no — it's the journey of everything I've built. We traced his path from Luohu to the west side of Nanshan, then east, transforming a route of highs and lows into the brand's defining graphic element.
The brand’s Chinese name draws from the lyrics of Taiwanese folk musician Hu De-fu. For the English, we chose Wayfarer — a poetic name for those always in motion, yet never stop exploring. A place to pause for a simple coffee or a warm bowl of tong shui. The store’s address has changed, the menu has evolved, but it remains what it's always been: a gathering spot for literary souls who love good conversation. In a loud commercial landscape, we chose quiet typography and restrained color to preserve a little everyday poetry.
