GLUGANCat. Brand Identity

Yr. 2025
GLUGAN is a healthy food brand with a focus on natural ingredients and nutritional value. As the brand grew, its positioning around balance and lifestyle aesthetics gradually came into focus. We collaborated with GLUGAN once again, taking the brand identity in a new direction.

The logomark — a combination of the letter "G" and "β" as a nod to nutritional value — was refined to shed its original, slightly technical edge. Softer curves and fuller forms now give the mark a more organic feel, one that better reflects GLUGAN's vision of healthy, everyday living.

GŌRO is a modern Japanese grill restaurant. We built its visual identity around a visceral, cinematic world — drawing from the streets of 1970s Japan, the density of the modern metropolis, and the grit of a dystopian future. Shadowy organizations, artificial intelligence, raw desire, and untamed energy pulse beneath the surface.

The brand aesthetic is rooted in a Kitchen Sink realist sci-fi universe — layered, atmospheric, and charged with tension. A world that is unmistakably its own: retro-futurist, dark, and alive.

My Cup of Tea is a classic Hong Kong–style cha chaan teng brand known for its iconic silk-stocking and yuanyang milk tea. For its first mainland China location at Shenzhen Bay MixC, we refreshed the brand’s visual identity while carefully preserving the nostalgic atmosphere rooted in Hong Kong’s bustling street culture. The redesign aims to translate that warmth of memory into a contemporary commercial setting, connecting the rhythms of the modern city with the sentiment of the past.

Step inside, and gilded plaques catch the eye alongside walls blanketed in hand-lettered posters and vintage frames — transporting you instantly to the unhurried charm of an old-school Hong Kong bing sutt, where you can settle comfortably into your own world amid the surrounding noise. Look closer, and the details reveal something new: a collision of old and new typefaces, a hierarchy of well-ordered layouts, and a clean, striking "yuanyang" graphic motif that brings fresh structure and vitality to the whole.

RENER is a fine-dining restaurant located at the Qianhai Kerry Centre in Shenzhen, dedicated to creating an immersive experience that blends Eastern and Western aesthetics.

We derived the design language from theatrical elements of both cultures; the graphic logo mirrors the shape of a stage—refined yet highly recognizable—while the typography is inspired by drama transcripts from the Republic of China era. A series of printed materials echoes the layout of theatrical scripts, providing the brand with a visual experience accented by Eastern elegance.

Hourlazy is a Thai restaurant located in Shenzhen. The name says it all — Hour, any fleeting moment in a day; Lazy, the art of slowing down.  A place that is always ready, always glad you came.

We redesigned the brand identity around one simple idea: slowing down. An unhurried rhythm and languid atmosphere that transforms dining into something closer to a tropical escape. The design uses loose, artistic linework woven throughout refined typography. The color palette draws from the sea and a mood of quiet calm — layered tones of blue across every brand touchpoint, lending the identity an atmosphere that is relaxed, refined, and effortlessly elegant.

Located in Aranya, SHIMMER BY THE COAST is a fisherman-style eatery specializing in Eastern Hebei folk flavors. Its name, derived from coastal staples, evokes a simple and authentic home-cooked experience.

The brand identity centers on the myth of the "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea," blending tradition with modern design to showcase the intersection of local culture and culinary inspiration. Visual elements incorporate Qinhuangdao’s intangible heritage—such as rattan weaving and paper-cutting—into the "Eight Immortals' artifacts" icons. Paired with auspicious patterns and bold traditional colors, the typography and stroke details reflect a cohesive balance between heritage and innovation.

From residential to commercial areas, Melt In July ’s "Farm House" and "cocopark" locations maintain a consistent brand philosophy. Both sites offer a farm-to-table dining experience and a relaxing space for a diverse community. One functions as a lively valley cabin for social gatherings, while the other serves as a corner grocery store providing a quick escape for busy city dwellers.

We designed a series of visual elements for both spaces, using straightforward typography to create a sense of intimacy. Retro neon signs and cocktail displays blend vintage and modern styles, while hand-drawn window illustrations depict scenes of daily life, inviting customers to explore and discover.

Through a clean and friendly design language, we have transformed Beta and Glugan (a bioactive substance found in oats) into symbolic forms that resonate with daily life. The visual core features an interplay of unadorned, colorful shapes—stacked and layered like the deconstruction and reassembly of ingredients—releasing creative energy through an artistic, irregular aesthetic.

A palette centered on pale lavender creates a healthy, soothing atmosphere, paired with relaxed typography and tactile, textured paper. This approach achieves a perfect balance between the brand's rigorous nutritional research and its soulful pursuit of a high-quality lifestyle. This vibrant visual identity not only highlights the nutritional richness of the ingredients but also conveys a brand attitude defined by a passion for life and an appreciation for beauty.

Shiny trip is a co-creation project of kite lighting series initiated by angle gallery and studiososlow in collaboration with kauwgombal. The project involves 14 graphic designers/studios and artists, 14 kite lamps, each limited to 10 editions.

About the Piece

Walking along the coast of the Brittany peninsula, or drifting between islands by boat, you notice long, narrow piers extending deep into the sea, angling downward until they disappear beneath the surface. Yachts come and go, mooring here between islands. People on shore walk slowly to the very end, until there is nothing ahead but sea. Drive along the small roads near the water, and sometimes the road itself simply continues into the waves then vanishes.

BASE HOTELCat. Brand Identity

Drawing from a decade of heritage as a converted industrial space in Shenzhen’s OCT area, the new brand identity for BASE HOTEL is rooted in the refined stability of Serif typography, honoring its deep-seated urban legacy. The custom logotype seamlessly bridges the "unyielding spirit of pine" with the "organic randomness of rock".

By integrating fluid, branch-like growth patterns into the brushstrokes—particularly within the initial and terminal horizontal structures—the design breathes natural vitality into a structured frame. This evolution transcends a singular definition, embracing a more inclusive and versatile brand character that reinterprets organic elegance within a modern metropolitan context.
